Kronakitty Interview
Q: Hi there, Kronakitty. How is everything going? ^^A: Hi there! ^-^ Everything's going great! You?
Q: Fine, thanks you ^^. So let's start with the interview, shall we? You are a fairly known person and webmaster in the online Pokémon community but when did your liking for Pokémon start? Did you like it the first time you played?
A: Hm...My interest in Pokemon probably first developed while I was living in Japan. I remember watching the then-considered "new" episodes in the very first season, and I continued watching the anime when I moved to the United States. I didn't start playing the games until my friend let me watch her play Pokemon Blue Version, and she let me borrow the game after I bought my Gameboy Advance. To answer your question, yes, I definitely loved it the first time I played!
Q: Oh, that's right, you're from Oriental provenience, right? Were you born in Japan?
A: *nodnod* I'm also Chinese. :3
Q: xD! Now focusing a bit on webmastering, what made you start a Pokémon website?
A: Er...I think I was greatly inspired by Mew's Hangout, like many other Pokemon webowners. I remember seeing an advertisement button to Freewebs on some site somewhere... And I started a website during the summer or fifth grade. At first it was merely the "official site" of a small club my friends and I made, and pretty soon I got tired of it (I thought it was pointless xD). Then I began focusing on Pokemon because well, I guess I just wanted to be part of the Pokemon community. XD And besides, I didn't have any other ideas. o3o
Q: So it all started with a lack of ideas xD. You've made many friends and are still an active participant of the online Pokémon community. Is it correct to say you're happy to be a part of it?
A: Yup! It gives me something to do, and since I'm a rather shy and not-too-social person in real life (except around my friends), I enjoy being active and influencial online. ^^
Q: And so you are. ^^ Now, concerning Eonlight Valley, the name itself, did it come from a passion towards Eevee and the Eeveelutions?
A: Surprisingly, it didn't. The name came after "Mew's Paradise", and I have to say, I was thinking really hard about what new name I was going to use. I considered loads, but in a blink, the name "Eonlight Valley" popped up in my head. I thought it sounded cool, so I decided to use it. =3
Q: It's one of those names that are hard to forget ^^. So I heard you too are a proud defender and user of the Firefox browser. Why do you prefer it to the others?
A: I used to use Internet Explorer, but somehow I gradually grew to using Firefox. I started to prefer it over IE when I noticed that layouts look much better on FF than IE, even if there are a mistake or two in the code. It does not anti-alias text when unnecessary, and I guess it's all about which browser you're most -used- to working with. ^^ (It has great skins, too! o3o)
Q: Yes, and because of all the cool add-ons and stuff =3. So you can be considered an experienced webmistress, any advice for us youngsters, trying to build our path to the top?
A: Er, I'm not sure if I'm all that experienced since my site's not humongously popular like Suta-Raito or Cave of Dragonflies, but I do have some advice and tips I'd love to share. =3 First off, it's good to find out what specific things your visitors are most interested in seeing at your site (whether it's games or information), and you can build up those things more since they make your site more popular. Be a nice webowner. Help out whenever you can. There's a good chance someone you help will link to you or recommend you to another, and that'll give you more hits.
Let's see...what else....xD Oh yes. Determination. It sounds overrated, but really, if one thing keeps you down and makes you want to say good-bye to site-making forever, then chances are, you're going to regret it. I remember when Mew's Paradise got destroyed, and I had to build Eonlight Valley from my old backups. Another example is when Valley of Nightmares's host went down, but look at how great Eevereon's site is now that she's started working on it again. ^-^ If you keep overcoming the obstacles you're bound to face, you're definitely going to get somewhere whether you know it or not. =3
And always try to be unique as possible and make things that no other site has, whether its your own unique pages/games or Pokemon art.
Q: Good advice ^^. You seem to try your best to keep your viewers entertained with interactive content and fun games and quizzes. You're nice to your visitants and give your best to please them with always something interesting to do in a very user-friendly way. Would you say that is what gives your site most of the hits?
A: Probably. After all, fun things are nearly always the most original things, because chances are, it's always going to be different in some way or even completely different from another site's interactive content (unless it's Skating Pikachu or something xD). For example, no other Pokemon fansite has EonQuests or anything related to it. =3
It's good to be as nice as possible, even if a particular visitor is seriously getting on your nerves, and it's good to have a friendly tone of voice in what you write. That way, visitors will feel welcomed to your site even if it's just text on a screen. ^-^
Q: True ^^. We're almost finishing this interview, any closing words you'd like to add?
A: Well, this was the first interview I'd ever been invited to by another webmaster, and I'm very grateful that you considered me. ^^
Q: That's all for today. See ya =D
A: Bye! =D
